My Symphony

To live content with small means,
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion,
to be worthy, not respectable,
and wealthy, not rich,
to study hard, think quietly,
talk gently, act frankly,
to listen to stars and birds,
to babes and sages with open heart,
to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely,
await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

-William Henry Channing

This is one of my very favorite quotes...I'm thinking the last line would look lovely on my wrist. Maybe one day...

Top Five Friday

Today was another gorgeous day and luckily I was able to scoot out of work in time to enjoy it! Here are the top five things I'm looking forward to this weekend:

1. Sittin' in the sunshine with my little Buggy Boo!

2. Honoring the Irish tomorrow.

3. Riding with the windows down.

4. Watching Colson play lots of basketball.

5. Making this yummy delight...Key Lime Pound Cake

Happy Friday everyone!

Just Thinking...

I think spring fever (or something) has hit me full force. I had to get outside and eat lunch today because I felt like the walls were closing in around me. The day started with me being quite snippy and I think I can partly blame it on being forced to spend such a beautiful day indoors. All I wanted to do was go get my kiddos, grab a lemonade from the drug store, and head to the park.

Earlier in the week I was talking with a friend about someone she knew who was going to homeschool her children. I felt jealous. Yesterday I spoke with another mother who was homeschooling her son. Now that seed is planted. I asked Monkey if he'd like for me to be his teacher and he gave an enthusiastic, "Yes!" and said that a classmate doesn't come to school anymore because her mom is her teacher now.  I have to say that I'd never dream of pulling him out now (he has the MOST amazing teacher), and probably not next year for certain reasons, but maybe the following year...maybe. The RedHead is definitely not sold on it.

All I can do is pray that we have the wisdom to make the right choices for our children and family, but homeschooling sure would have made it easier to ditch the four walls and head out into this beautiful weather today! :)

My Monkey Turns Six!

Colson's 6th birthday was yesterday and we have been celebrating BIG! We began the day with balloons in the bed and then Nana and I went to eat lunch with him at school.

Later he shared cupcakes with his classmates and we finished off the day with a trip to his favorite restaurant, Don Juans!

Today was his party and the one word that best describes it has to be...chaos! It was wonderful chaos.  The children colored, blew bubbles, played basketball, ate hotdogs and then had cake. Colson loved being surrounded by his family and friends and sharing in fun times with them. Here are a "few" pictures from his big day!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is...

Colson's sixth birthday. It seems impossible that it was six years ago that I went into labor and very quickly delivered a little peanut of a baby. The night of his birth continues to be a mixture of very vivid moments and a blur of emotions and events that I don't think I'll ever fully sort out. All I can say is that I am blessed that he arrived safely and has grown into a smart, sweet and happy little six year old boy! Now it's time to party!

Friday. My favorite day. There is a weight that is lifted off of my shoulders each Friday as I make the drive to pick up my two babes and I know that I have two whole days to spend with them and my handsome RedHead.

Here's my Top 5 Friday List of what I'm looking forward to this weekend:
1. Chocolate Cake.
2. Lots of little ones running around the house.
3. Snuggles with babies.
4. Watching my Monkey and Mr. RedHead shoot basketball on his new goal.
5. Meeting a dear friend's baby for the first time!

I can't wait to have another wonderful weekend celebrating my little boy! Happy Friday!
