Just One More Reason

Just one more reason why I love him...

He cooks! Yummy sausage breakfast casserole to be specific. :)

Sooo good!*

*But be a good cook** like him and leave out the salt or you won't be able to wear pants for days.
**Good cooks also use Neese's Hot Sausage, but I realize some poor unfortunate souls don't have this available so just do the best you can. ;)

Conversation of the Day/Story of my Life

Dinner last night with the RedHead:

Me: I'd really like a margarita to drink.

Red: Jumbo?

Me: I don't know. I just worked out so that would really ruin what I just did.

Red: Do you plan on working out tomorrow?

Me: No.

Red: The next day?

Me: No.

Red: Next week?

Me: Yes.

Red: Well, okay then.

Needless to say, I had the margarita. Does anyone else use this type of rationalization?

Nerdy Girl

Yesterday was just one of those days.  My mama and I took Bug to get her 2 year picture made and she lasted all of about 4 minutes.  We quickly picked the one decent photo that didn't have half deflated mylar balloons and crumpled gift bags in the picture and got out of there.

The Monkey was whiny and Bug ran around every place we went like a bull in a china shop. She even managed to throw a bag of goldfish across the restaurant and it landed on an elderly lady's table who was none to happy about Bug's antics.  However, we did end the day with some fun at the pool after the RedHead got home. (Oh, but then bedtime came to a nasty end at 10pm after a hour of struggle.)

This morning wasn't looking much better when the Bug said/screamed the words, "MILK MOMMY" about 100 times in the first 10 minutes I was awake. But then I remembered I got to go pick up my new glasses today! Many will hate on them, but I love them!

The Everyday

I really get hyped up about exciting events in my life. Sometimes I feel like I'm always looking forward, but I've realized after many experiences that the more you build it up the more likely you are to feel a bit disappointed after it's over. So I'm trying really hard to just live in each day. Here's a few bits from the everyday.

Yummy Breakfast: Vanilla yogurt, 1/2 chopped apple, walnuts and a drizzle of honey.

What I wore:

Shirt: Forever 21 (forever old)

Skirt: Max Studio

Shoes: Mossimo for Target

Belt: Fossil

Watch: Michael Kors

Straw Bag: Thrifted from Goodwill

An evening walk with the Bug:

I get to look at these beautiful blues every day!

Looking at airplanes. Clearly I need some photography tips.

Here's to enjoying the everyday!

Crave or Save

I've fallen in love with this bag:

the Mulberry Oversized Alexa in Oak...thanks in part to Emily @Cupcakes and Cashmere.

However, $1400 is a tough price to swallow which makes this bag a crave.

Being that I don't have that kind of dough laying around I went on the hunt for a save on my favorite site (forever and ever) Etsy. Here's my save version:

I see this in my future...Happy Birthday from the RedHead? :)

In the Moment Mommy

Let me set the scene. It's the last day of our week long vacation at the beach and for some odd reason it pops into my head, "Hmmm, I don't think we've taken any pictures this week."

I ask the RedHead and he confirms that he took about three pictures of Monkey on the beach the first day, but that's it.

We head to the arcade to play a few more games and cash in $20 worth of tickets on $2 worth of prizes and I snap a few pictures of the Bug on the little merry-go-round.

I felt a bit down at first that we had no documentation of all the fun we had that week. No pictures of splashing in the pool, eating huge cones of icecream, or playing putt-putt. But then I realized that in order to have those pictures I couldn't have been in on the fun of all of these activites. I bet some mommies can handle the activity plus the pictures, but for me I have to be totally involved (especially with Lilly) or be totally observant (just taking pictures).

For me, I'd rather be an in-the-moment kind of mommy. I want my kids to remember having fun with me, not having fun with daddy while mommy took pictures of it. This kind of eased the regret I felt for not having any "proof" of our fun, but I will try to take at least one day and just do tons of pictures so I have something to look back on when the memories begin to fade.

Enjoy the following photo montage of our 2011 summer vacay!

My Dream Hair

I've been dreaming of having long hair since I was in High School. I envied those girls who could cut their hair above their shoulders one month and then several months later it was already grown out again. I could never muster enough patience to just let mine be and give it time to grow.

Last August was the last time I had a "real" haircut. I made up my mind to let it grow so once in my life I'd have the long hair I wanted. So only trims for about a year now and it's a few inches past my shoulders.

Did I mention that it grows at a snail's pace?

To curb my impatience and talk myself out of just cutting it short again, I decided to try extensions. I found these at Sally's Beauty Supply. They are human hair and they were the perfect color. I didn't have to dye them or highlight them at all! I simply took them to my hairdresser and she cut them to blend in with my hair.

I'll just have to fake it until I make it. ;)
Oh, and they just clip in so they won't damage my hair and I can just wear them when I want to.

Please ignore the bags under my eyes. The Bug is 2 and still doesn't sleep through the night.

The dress was a gift from my sweet RedHead from Gladiola Girls.

Summer Style

Today's motto is adapted from a Life Is Good saying, "Do what you like. Like what you do."

"Wear what you like. Like what you wear."

For 10 months out of the year I am a teacher. I have found my "teacher style", and occasionally it overlaps with my personal style, but in the summer I feel more freedom to wear different clothes that I wouldn't normally wear to school.

My favorite summer clothes are loose skirts, tanks, fun tees, cheap aviators, bold polish, comfy shoes, and a variety of accessories. The main thing though is that they must be affordable since some aren't things I can wear the majority of the year. Here's what I'm wearing this summer!

Skirts:
White Skirt from Forever 21: $15.8

Black Skirt from Talbots: $22.0 on sale with extra 40%off

Tanks:
My go to are these Mossimo tanks from Target: $6.3-$9 (some colors are on clearance in store)

Fun Tees:
Check out this site: Dressing On The Side
I have these:

Sunglasses:
I found these for $10 at TJ Maxx

Favorite Polish right now is Essie Peach Daquari

Cute and comfy Shoes:
Mossimo flats from Target $14.99

Hoy Saltwater Sandals

Accessories:
My $1 Goodwill straw bag

Necklaces and bracelets from Forever 21 (all are under $6 each)
