27 weeks

27 weeks

The Belly:

Hi Point: I made it through my glucose test, one more week of work, and finally was able to order a pair of cords from Gap (every other time I tried, the coupon code didn't work for cords). Now I will have 3 pair of pants to wear (bodies change a lot from being pregnant at 23 and being pregnant at 30, so not a whole lot fits).
Also, Etsy has a registry system (who knew?). It's only Wedding Registry, but I just made our wedding date Butter Bean's due date and then added a few lovelies. I could add stuff on here all day long!
Check it: Butter Bean's Etsy Registry
Just look at the cuteness!

Lo Point: The fatigue. I could really do about a 2 day work week. I'm pretty good Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday I am getting up about 15-20 minutes later and by Friday I am ready to take a nap at work. Two more weeks until I go out.

Siblings: Colson thinks it's funny to tell the baby to pop on out so we can play, but we've had to talk with him about how this is not what we want to happen. We explained how he was really sick when he "popped" out early and we were scared because he had to stay in the hospital. It's really hard for he and Lilly-Belle to understand...they're just ready to meet their brother or sister!

Cravings: Coffee with pumpkin spice creamer, Japanese food and sushi, doughnut holes from Fancy Pastry.

Lbs: +28 I also want to clarify...my doctor thinks I've only gained 19 lbs. I am counting from my pre-pregnancy goal weight (and where I want to be long-term, after baby). There was a 9 lb gain from the point we started trying, got pregnant, and then had our first "official" visit when they took my starting weight. If I'm wanting to feel better, I go with their count ;)

Looking Forward To: The 2 week work countdown. I know it will be best for baby and for me.

Mad Math Skills

Tell me these kids don't have some mad math skills!

(Yes, they're sideways...I have no idea how to fix it?)

26 weeks

26 weeks

The Belly: Changing up the pic a bit this week because I do not intend on getting "fixed up" today.

Hi Point: After this week, it's kind of a stretch here. I'd have to say my high point was that I am now officially more than half way done with my 17p shots. 11 down, 10 to go!

Lo Point: Well...I had a really bad night on Wednesday night. I just couldn't get comfortable and my back felt like it was cramping. I ended up leaving work early the next day and my midwife said that it was inflammation and spasms. She wrote me a prescription and put me out of work for Friday.

Then we had "the talk". I knew it was coming, but in my mind I really thought I had about another month before we needed to talk about when I'd go out. I was sure that with the job I was doing now plus the weekly shots, I'd be able to work longer.

Reality is, I just can't do it. (Enter guilt.) We decided that I'll try for 3 more weeks and that will put me at 30 weeks (because I'm really 27 weeks tomorrow).  So...there's that.

Siblings: No biggies here. The Bug is trying our patience on a regular basis, but I guess we can just say we're in training for #3. Sometimes she is like having 2 children. :) Colson is being his regular sweet self.

Cravings: Not a whole lot. Chocolate milk, maybe?

Lbs: +26 (I won't even go into what the doctor's scale said. I'll just say I was wearing my boots and I didn't get to take them off. Boots are heavy y'all!)

Looking Forward To: **This was last week's hope -->Nothing big this week...just wanting to make it through with minimal back pain and possibly a bit more sleep.**Needless to say, I don't think it happened. I think I'll stick to the same hope for this week.

Express Yourself

How did we ever express our thoughts with humor before someecards??? I'll never know.

 Yes, yes we do.

Because I will always think of my suite mates as my Golden Girls (and I'll always be Blanche)! Love you Lyds, Ash, and Erin!!

Housewife Problems. And I don't iron...ever. I can't do it because I'm left handed. Seriously.

My true friends know this to be true. ;)

When else would it be??

These could go on all day! Do you have any favs?

25 weeks

25 weeks...feeling like 35. Oof!

The Belly:

Hi Point: Definitely the weather!! I have way more belly friendly clothes for summer weather, but I will do with fewer outfits just to enjoy this beautiful fall weather! I've been able to break out the boots, which is nice because they will fit no matter how big the belly gets (we won't mention the swelling that will come later).

Lo Point: Finding out about the heartache of another lady who is expecting. I wrote about it yesterday, and I will continue to pray for her and her precious little girl.

Siblings:  Here is Colson's portrait of me from a school writing assignment. There is Daddy, looking all svelte and there is Mommy with an enormous belly. And that gray blob...that's little ButterBean. :)

Cravings: Reese's Puffs Cereal, lots and lots of milk

Lbs: +23 or 24  (Can we just stop the madness now and quit counting???)

Looking Forward To: Nothing big this week...just wanting to make it through with minimal back pain and possibly a bit more sleep.

Just One Click

It all started with just one click. I was checking a few blogs and thought I'd check in with a neighbor (where we used to live) who blogs. I did, and then I noticed another neighbor (from the same neighborhood) was on her blog list. So I clicked it. And I started to read. I was confused, so I clicked "older posts" until I figured out a place to start reading.

It wasn't long before my chest was tightening, I had a lump in my throat, and tears stung my eyes. This woman is pregnant...not much further along than I am. And the prognosis for her baby is not good. I don't know what to say, what to do with what I've read. My heart breaks for her. For her family. For her children.

I don't even know how to finish writing what I'm feeling. I went back and read through my posts about this pregnancy, sure that I had written about the fears I've had since early on, but I couldn't find anything. Maybe writing it would make it too real, maybe because there have been no red flags about little ButterBean, or maybe I'm just paranoid because Colson and Lilly-Belle were both premature so how could something not go wrong with this pregnancy.  I have written that I feel like I'm carrying low which makes me nervous, but throughout my pregnancy I've encountered, by chance (or perhaps not), stories of women who are carrying or have recently delivered babies with special needs. I don't know what to make of it.

But tonight, this sweet woman's story has touched me. I still don't know what I should say... I guess a start would be with my prayers. I pray for her, for her baby girl, for her family and friends, and the doctors that care for her. They are in my heart.

24 weeks

I'm actually into my 25th week, but I just didn't have the energy to post it yesterday. I am excited to use my sticky belly sticker this week!!

The Belly:

Thank you Erika for the Sticky Bellies! Lydia's Boutique is my favorite children's shoppe!

Hi Point: Celebrating a sweet friend at her baby shower! It is her first and she's having a little boy. We enjoyed comparing bellies and trying to decide if mine looks like hers (meaning it could be a boy) or if I look different enough to be carrying a girl. Her vote is boy. :)

Lo Point: Bra Shopping at Motherhood Maternity. I'll just say it was depressing. No one wants to hear, "We don't make anything larger than that in your band size." Just dandy. This may have resulted in a few tears last night, which Nick just thought was silly. Of course he doesn't see this as a problem!

Siblings: I'm at the point where I can no longer comfortably pick Lilly-Belle up...and lap space is shrinking by the day. This has been an adjustment for her and part of me feels guilty when I can't pick her up or carry her, but I know I need to keep the lifting light to be safe.

This really has nothing to do with ButterBean, but I must share.
On Sunday morning, as we're getting out of the car for Sunday School, Colson says, "Is this weird? I pooted and it smelled like a taco."

After I quit laughing, I told him it may be because of what he ate for dinner last night (we had Don Juans).

Still puzzled, he responded, "But I ate that taco Yesterday!"  Silly boy! If ButterBean is a boy then he'll have someone to teach him all of the bad boy habits and if it's a girl then she'll just be annoyed by her stinky brother. :)

Cravings: Smores Poptarts, Coffee, Candy (the candy jars in my room at school have not fared well this week) Just keeping it healthy.

Lbs: +21

Looking Forward To: I know it's a few weeks away, but I'm already looking forward to "fair food". It's a pregnant woman's dream...funnel cakes, cotton candy, caramel apples, roasted corn. I can't wait!

Top Five Friday...Is It Fall Already?

Ok, I loved my summer, but now I'm back at work and I'm ready for someone to turn down the heat and bring on the fall weather. Here are the top five things I'm looking forward to this fall...

#1. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Nevermind that it's been 90 degrees, I've still had a few of these lovelies already, but I'd really like to enjoy one when it can "warm me up"!

#2. Boots. I'm ready to wear them...like yesterday. My riding boots, cowboy boots and Ugg boots are all ready to come out of retirement. Plus, I can't even reach my toes to paint them anymore so sandal season needs to be over.

#3. Fall scents. Oh, Apple Pumpkin! I smelled it in the store, but it just seemed wrong to buy it while it is still so hot. That was a mistake, so I'll be returning to bring it home very soon!

#4. Pumpkins on my doorstep. We planted some pumpkins this year, but we may have been a bit late getting them in the ground so I'm sure I'll have to buy some beforehand, but hopefully we'll have our own for late fall!
Here's a picture of our little pumpkin family from last fall.

#5. Fall food. These are just a couple of my favorites from Our Best Bites:
Creamy Corn Chowder
Apple Dumplings
Caramel Apple Cider

What are you looking forward to this fall?

Ready or Not...Bug Goes to School

It seems like only yesterday that I was sending Colson off to preschool...and now my little Bug is going! Today was Lilly-Belle's first day and she has been anxiously asking, "Today?" for about the past week.

We packed her pretty ladybug backpack with her show and tell, a crab stuffed animal and a bracelet and she was ready to go. Here are a few pics from her big first day!

Ladybug backpack perfect for a little Bug!

With Mommy
With Daddy
Her sheepish smile
So excited she can barely contain it!

My Big-Little Girl

After preschool she went out to lunch and spent the day with Nana. I am so proud of what an independent little girl she is each and every day!

23 Weeks

23 weeks down...17 to go (or at least 13 by my midwife's orders)!

The Belly:

Hi Point: The elderly lady in Belk who pointed at me and asked her daughter (quite loudly), "Is that little girl pregnant?" When the daughter told her I was indeed pregnant, she responded, "She's too young to be having a baby!" Bless her heart. Exactly what a newly 30 year old needs to hear. :)

Lo Point: Having an upper respiratory infection this week. It has been awful. I'm pretty sure I pulled every muscle around my belly from coughing, but thankfully the doc gave me some good antibiotics and cough meds so I am recovering quickly.

Siblings: Some days I think how sweet Lilly-Belle will be with the new baby...like when I see her playing with the other baby at the sitter's or when her sitter shows me a picture of her loving on the bunny rabbit at story hour.

Other times I worry what might happen if I ever leave her alone, even for a moment, with the baby. It could look something like this:
Yes, those are yogurt bites that have been strategically smooshed onto baby.
Don't even ask.

Cravings: Being sick, I've pretty much just wanted orangeades, banana pudding icecream, and pumpkin spice lattes.

Lbs: +21

Looking Forward To: A sweet friend's baby shower next weekend! I can't wait to see her baby bump again (we look like we're due at the same time even though I'm 8 weeks behind her) and see all the precious baby boy gifts she receives!
